Gelfman International Summer Fund

Deadline: 03/15/2025 (Tentative)

The Gelfman International Summer Fund has been established by Robert W. Gelfman (Wharton ’53) to create opportunities for personally enriching international research and/or service for students in the summer between their junior and senior year. The Fund is expected to cover two or three students each summer. Penn juniors from any of Penn’s undergraduate schools and in any discipline are eligible.

Paul and Kathleen Barthmaier Award

Financial support to assist with travel expenses related to intellectually enriching undergraduate research or fellowship experiences.

Summer Humanities Internship Program (SHIP)

Deadline: 02/25/2025 (Tentative)

Ten-week summer program for students in the College to have an opportunity to work in a cultural, historical, or archival setting. Students receive $5,000 award.

Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award

Deadline: 03/15/2025 (Tentative)

The Association of Alumnae of the University of Pennsylvania has established the Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award in the School of Arts and Sciences to recognize and support female undergraduates for academic achievement and demonstrated service to country, community, and family during the summer after their sophomore or junior year in the College.

Joseph Warner Yardley Prize

Deadline: 03/24/2025 (Tentative)

The Yardley Prize is awarded to the best thesis on political economy written by a member of the senior class in any undergraduate school at Penn.

Vagelos Undergraduate Research Grant

Deadline: 10/22/2024 (Tentative)

The Vagelos Undergraduate Research Grant funds an independent scholarly project conducted by an undergraduate student during the academic year.

Rose Award

Deadline: 03/24/2025 (Tentative)

The Rose Foundation generously funds the Rose Undergraduate Research Award recognizing outstanding undergraduate research projects completed by graduating seniors under the supervision of a Penn faculty member.

Pincus-Magaziner Family Undergraduate Research Fund

Deadline: 03/15/2025 (Tentative)

2nd or 3rd year students majoring in Art History, English, Literature, Biology, Mathematics, or Neuroscience are eligible to apply for research and travel support from Pincus-Magaziner funding each Fall and Spring semester through the College Alumni Society Research Grant program.

Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program (PURM)

Each year Penn supports undergraduate involvement in faculty research through the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program (PURM), which provides students completing their first or second undergraduate year the opportunity to spend a summer conducting research with a standing Penn faculty member.

Penn Undergraduate Sustainability Action Grant

Deadline: 03/15/2025 (Tentative)

Penn’s Climate Action Plan aims to keep Penn at the forefront of addressing global climate change by supporting undergraduate research in any academic field related to sustainability. Projects that lead to environmentally sustainable programs and policies, contribute to scientific innovations related to sustainability, or deepen our understanding of the social, cultural, artistic, and humanistic aspects of sustainability are encouraged, provided the research is conducted under the direction of a Penn faculty member. Projects in other related fields that support the goals outlined in Penn’s Climate Action Plan are also welcome.
