The Gelfman International Summer Fund has been established by Robert W. Gelfman (Wharton ’53) to create opportunities for personally enriching international research and/or service for students in the summer between their junior and senior year.

Summer Humanities Internships

Each year the College of Arts and Sciences and CURF fund approximately twenty-five summer research internships for University of Pennsylvania students in the humanities and social sciences. Internships provide undergraduates with the opportunity to work in a cultural, historical, or archival setting.  These full-time (35 hrs/week) internships are for a period of ten weeks and include a financial award of $4,500. The award will be disbursed in two equal installments on June 30 and August 31.

Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award

General Information

The Association of Alumnae of the University of Pennsylvania has established the Association of Alumnae Rosemary D. Mazzatenta Scholars Award in the School of Arts and Sciences to recognize and support female undergraduates for academic achievement and demonstrated service to country, community, and family during the summer after their sophomore or junior year in the College.

Joseph Warner Yardley Prize

In June of 1877, Joseph Warner Yardley graduated as Valedictorian and Spoon Man. He died in August 1877. In 1878, the members of the Class of 1877 established the Joseph Warner Yardley Prize in his memory. The Yardley Prize is awarded to the best thesis on political economy written by a member of the senior class in any undergraduate school at Penn. The Yardley Award is administered by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships, and awards are determined each April on a competitive basis. Seniors graduating in the Spring semester from any undergraduate school are eligible.

Vagelos Undergraduate Research Grant

Team Grants for Interdisciplinary Activities (TGIA)

General Information

The Team Grants for Interdisciplinary Activities (TGIA) provide financial support for a team of faculty members to offer an intensive, interdisciplinary 10-week summer research experience for at least two and up to five Penn undergraduates.   Priority will be given to applications submitted by interdisciplinary teams of faculty members (ie spanning different fields, departments, and/or schools).

Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program (PURM)

Each year Penn supports undergraduate involvement in faculty research through the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program (PURM), which provides students completing their first or second undergraduate year the opportunity to spend a summer conducting research with a Penn faculty member.
