I'm Tyler, an undergraduate studying comparative literature (concentration in (trans)national literatures) and design! I began my research at Penn during my first year, working on independent translations of modernist Yiddish poetry and prose. Since then, I've applied to, and won, numerous awards, scholarships, and fellowships at Penn to support my research, including a prize to attend the 2022 Association for Jewish Studies Conference in Boston for free. I received an undergraduate research fellowship from the Wolf Humanities Center in 2022, which allowed me to conduct independent research with my research advisor, Dr. Kathryn Hellerstein, on the Yiddish avant-garde movement of literature and art in Eastern Europe during the early 1920s. I conduct similar research today, in preparation for my thesis in comparative literature. I applied to SHIP through CURF in 2023 and received an offer to work at the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History, but I sadly had to decline. Ask me about applying to humanities-based scholarships and fellowships, publishing in magazines and publications, graphic design, modernist literature, or Jewish languages!
