Reyhan Jamalova

My research interests lie in the intersection of data science, machine learning, and social science. I enjoy applying computer science skills to diverse fields like biomedical science and social sciences. Recently, I've been working on characterizing the geographical landscape of misinformation, such as studying its impact on COVID-19 vaccine discussions on X (Twitter). I started my research journey with the First-Year Exposure to Research in STEM program, contributing a MATLAB code for analyzing transcriptional activity from live images in Lim Lab. This summer, I worked with Professor Guntuku through the Rachleff program to develop a misinformation detection pipeline using unreliable URLs from X data. I'm currently extending this work by incorporating supervised models and topic extraction techniques. I'm happy to support other students in getting involved in research at Penn.
