Hi! I am Hyunwoo Song. I am a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in history and submatriculating (B.A./M.A.) in the East Asian Languages and Civilizations. My current research interest is in the history of the Korean diaspora, specifically the development of Korean American community and its support system. Thanks to CURF and the UScholar program, not only did I learn to formulate my own research project, but I also was able to get funding for my research during the summer of 2019 and 2023.

I believe that one of the greatest benefits Penn can offer you is the robust support system for aspiring researchers. However, it can feel daunting when you are at the starting line of your journey. I want to help you get started on the right path. Feel free to email me if you have questions about researching at Penn.
