My name is Hana Matsuda, and I’m a junior in the School of Engineering and Applied Science studying bioengineering with an intended concentration in immune engineering. In summer 2023, I conducted cell engineering research at Hammer lab as part of the Rachleff Scholars Program. My project aims to switch on and off the motility of immune cells with a pulse of light, and I continue working on this project with independent study.

Research experience makes up the core of who I am now; I figured out my academic interest. I learned to effectively communicate with lab members, present my work, and manage my lifestyle. I realized that I’m interested in education and mentoring. I was made to think about who I want to be in the future.

I'm excited to help you get started with research at Penn, which I’m sure will be a transformative experience for you!
