My research interests consist of film archival studies, the format and impact of award ceremonies, national film industry development, the experiences of minority filmmakers, and the quality of representation of Black characters on screen. I am currently researching patterns of film industry investment in/divestment from Black storytelling. I am happy to share more about my research projects, which include the Renaissance Archive—a communally-curated digital archive that highlights films and television shows created between 1990 and 2009 that feature joyous representations of Black people—and the Anti Canon project—an online curriculum to be implemented by educators and film students to diversify their cinema studies education—, what you have an interest in exploring, or anything about my Penn experience and what I’ve learned.
