I am interested in the genetic basis of hereditary ocular diseases in animals and people. By learning from our canine friends affected with ocular diseases, I strive to to understanding the molecular mechanisms of the equivalent diseases affecting human patients. My research goal is to develop safe and effective therapies such as AAV gene therapy to prevent or reverse vision-loss in affected animals and people.
