The Urban Studies Program Gordon Fellowship

From the inception of the Urban Studies Program at Penn, connecting theory and practice has been one of our guiding principles. In this spirit, we offer the Gordon Fellowship, sponsored by alumnus Jacques Gordon (URBS1978) and his family. Winners of the Gordon Fellowship will receive a $5,000 stipend to explore careers that would lead to improving the quality of life in cities, whether in the public, non-profit, or private sectors and will benefit from career mentoring through alumni activities during the school year.

Engineering Research Centers (ERCs) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs)

The ERCs have developed many innovative programs to leverage the strong aspects of ERC research and education not only into the engineering schools, but also out into the wider educational environment. An excellent example is the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, which most ERCs offer. The purpose of the NSF-funded REU program is to involve talented undergraduates in active research projects, usually during the summer, working alongside ERC researchers and students. REU students may come from the ERC's host university or another institution.

Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Scholars Program

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Scholars Program offers stipend-paid internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate-level university students pursuing STEM degrees, as well as upper-level high school students; select locations also offer internships to university students pursuing education-related degrees and K–12 professional educators. The selected interns gain valuable hands-on experiences working with full-time AFRL scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research and technology and are able to contribute to unique, research-based projects.
