General Information

The Gelfman International Summer Fund has been established by Robert W. Gelfman (Wharton ’53) to create opportunities for personally enriching international research and/or service for students in the summer between their junior and senior year.

Paul and Kathleen Barthmaier Award

The Paul and Kathleen Barthmaier Award has been established by Kathleen M. Barthmaier (Wharton ’03) to provide financial support to assist with travel expenses related to intellectually enriching undergraduate research or fellowship experiences. While priority will be given to internationally focused projects, proposals focused on domestic (based in the United States) issues will also be considered. Grants will be awarded up to $2,000 depending on the needs of the project.

SNF Paideia Fellowship

We’re accepting applications to the Fellows program in two rounds. Students who wish to apply for the first round may submit their application up through Sunday, January 30. Students applying in the second round have through Sunday, February 27. Current first year students are eligible to apply to the program. Selected Fellows participate in the program for three years, from their sophomore through senior year.

The Water Center at Penn Student Research Support Program

Program summary: The Water Center at Penn encourages Penn undergraduate students from any discipline to apply for this competitive student grant program to promote research in water science, policy and sustainability. The grant also aims to recognize academic excellence and prepare students towards leadership by encouraging applied research and community engagement.

ASPB Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships

The American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) fund promising undergraduate students so they can conduct research in plant biology during the early part of their college careers. SURF recipients must present their research at ASPB’s annual Plant Biology meeting in the year following the fellowship award.
