Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Scholars Program

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Scholars Program offers stipend-paid summer internship opportunities to undergraduatelevel university students pursuing STEM degrees; select locations also offer internships to university students pursuing education-related degrees. The selected interns gain valuable hands-on experiences working with full-time AFRL scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research and technology and are able to contribute to unique, research-based projects. 

Depending on the location of the internship, application deadlines will vary.

REU Sites: Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences

These are 8 to 10-week summer research programs at various institutions in social sciences, behavioral sciences, or economic sciences. 

Students must contact the individual sites for application information and materials. NSF does not have application materials and does not select student participants.

American Heart Association Undergraduate Student Summer Fellowship Program

The American Heart Association supports highly promising, undergraduate students for full-time research fellowships over a minimum of a ten-week period during the summer. The goal of this program is to encourage students to pursue careers in cardiovascular research. Research projects with broad relevance to cardiovascular biology and stroke will be considered.  The research must be performed within the eight states of the Founders Affiliate region which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Harvard-Amgen Scholars Program

The Amgen Scholars Program at Harvard is a 10-week faculty-mentored residential summer research program for undergraduates in biotechnology. Amgen Scholars will be paired with world-renowned faculty mentors and a director supervisor (postdoctoral scholar or graduate student) in the laboratory, following an interview selection process.

The Penn Program on Opinion Research and Election Studies (PORES) is an undergraduate research program committed to conducting high-quality social research in the public interest on issues of national and international importance.

PORES aims to develop a data-driven approach to understanding political outcomes in the United States through public opinion survey research and poll analysis.

MindCore: Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program in Interdisciplinary Mind and Brain Studies

The MindCORE Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania offers a paid ten-week summer research program for undergraduate students from Penn (the Lila R. Gleitman Summer Fellowships) as well as for select students from other institutions. We seek a cohort of students from diverse backgrounds who are interested in interdisciplinary approaches to the study of the mind and brain. Our Program includes one week of workshop-style sessions with faculty as well as a short course in programming, followed by nine weeks of research experience in a MindCORE-affiliated faculty member’s lab.
