Yi Yang

My research interests are in the cultural and medical anthropology field. Due to my identity as a member of Yao ethnic group, I am encouraged to discover how my own culture has been continuously evolving to adapt to the modern world, and what challenges it is facing. I’m also interested by studies at the intersection of psychology and anthropology: e.g. the illness narratives of members of ethnic minority groups who have (mental) illnesses. Outside of research, I participated in the Penn Chinese Theater, STEP-UP, and Penn Best Buddies.
