I am deeply interested in the intersections between inflammation, metabolism, and aging. In particular, my research focuses on the interactions between macrophages of the immune system and adipose tissue, and how their bidirectional communication gives rise to a state of chronic inflammation as well as pathogenesis of degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis. Aside from research, I’m working to promote scientific literature both in and beyond the Penn community. I currently serve as Editor-in-Chief of the PennScience Journal of Undergraduate Research, where I mentor students both at Penn and around the world to develop scientific articles and publish research findings in our annual journal. I strongly believe that anyone can become involved in research, and through PennScience, I seek to help students find their niche.
