Prof. Bassett holds a MASt in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Cambridge, where he studied as a Marshall Scholar and NSF Graduate Research Fellow.  His research lies at the interface between quantum physics, nanophotonics, electrical engineering, materials science, and biology.  His quantum engineering research group seeks new ways to probe and manipulate the quantum-mechanical properties of charge, spin, and light towards the realization of quantum-enabled technologies.  Potential applications include quantum computers, secure communication networks, and new optical sensors for measuring nanoscale dynamics in biological systems.
