National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)

The National Science Foundation offers approximately 900 graduate fellowships each year, including additional awards for women in engineering and computer and information science. Fellowships provide three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees at US universities in science, mathematics and engineering supported by the NSF and are intended for students in the early stages of their graduate study.

Pershing Square Graduate Scholarship (must apply to Master's program by December 2021 or January 2022 deadline)

Pershing Square Graduate Scholarship

The Oxford Pershing Square Graduate Scholarship fully funds up to five scholars to combine a one-year Master's degree from one of several Oxford University partnering departments* with a one-year MBA (the 1+1 MBA) at Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

*Applicants interested in combining the MBA with a one-year Master's degree from a non-partnering department should apply for the non-partnering Master's degree as early as possible, and then apply for the MBA by selecting the 1+1 by no later than 12 January 2022 (Applicants must ALSO apply to your partner Master's program by your degree program's December 2021 or January 2022 deadline).

Ertegun Scholarship

The Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship fully funds 1, 2, or 3 years of degree study in the Humanities OR selected courses in Global and Area Studies within the Social Sciences Division at Oxford. Eligible degree programs are listed within Oxford's Humanities Division and at https://www.ertegun.ox.ac.uk/scholarships

Huntington Public Service Award

Huntington Public Service Award

The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides an annual stipend of $20,000 for a graduating college senior to pursue public service anywhere in the world. The Award allows recipients to engage in a meaningful public service activity for one year before proceeding on to graduate school or a career.

Pickering Graduate Fellowship (tentative deadline)

Pickering Graduate Fellowship

The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program provides financial support, mentoring and professional development to prepare students academically and professionally for a career in the US Department of State Foreign Service.  Graduate Fellows receive up to $42,000 annually for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expenses for a two-year master’s degree in fields related to the Foreign Service such as business administration, economics, public policy, international affairs, and other relevant fields. This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with financial need.

Rangel Summer Enrichment Program (Tentative Deadline)

Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program

The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program is a six-week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs, a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs, and the enhanced knowledge and skills to pursue such careers.  A cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above is required.  Students live at Howard University, attend classes, and participate in a variety of programs with foreign affairs professionals at Howard and at diverse locations around Washington, DC.

President's Innovation Prize

President’s Innovation Prize

Created by Penn President Amy Gutmann to strengthen the University of Pennsylvania’s commitment to innovation through the Penn Compact 2020, the President’s Innovation Prize will provide a graduating Penn senior, or team of graduating seniors, $100,000 (plus a $50,000 living stipend per team member) to envision and implement an innovative commercial venture that makes a positive difference in the world.

President's Engagement Prizes

President’s Engagement Prizes

Created by Penn President Amy Gutmann to strengthen the University of Pennsylvania’s commitment under the Penn Compact 2020 to impactful global, national, and local student engagement, the President’s Engagement Prizes will provide recipients with up to $150,000 – $50,000 for living expenses and up to $100,000 for project implementation expenses – to develop and implement a promising local, national, or global engagement project during the year after graduation.  Collaborative projects will be welcome with up to three awardees for a collaborative team project.

Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship

Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship

The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship supports Fellows through two years of graduate study (in subjects relevant to the work of the Foreign Service) along with internships and professional development activities, and entry into the Foreign Service.  This program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service and those with financial need.  Fellows who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service entry requirements will receive appointments as Foreign Service Officers.

Trudeau Scholarship

Trudeau Scholarship

The Trudeau Scholarship provides three years full funding for a doctoral degree on one of four program themes: Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World, and People and their Natural Environment for either:

  • Canadians to earn a doctorate at a foreign (i.e., non-Canadian) university
  • Non-Canadians to earn a doctorate at a Canadian university
