October 1, 2021 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

Learn about the Goldwater Scholarship, which provides sophomores and juniors with $7,500 per year in undergraduate tuition and identifies recipients as future STEM researchers. After a brief presentation on the award, recent Penn Goldwater Scholarship recipients (including recipients of the Churchill Scholarship and the NSF-GRFP) will share their experiences and advice:

  • Emma Keeler (COL/GAS '23, Biology)
  • Adam Konkol (COL/GAS '21, Physics, Biophysics, Biochemistry / MS in Physics) (also a Churchill Scholar and NSF-GRFP recipient)

  • Shreya Parchure (SEAS/MSE ‘21, Bioengineering, MD/PhD ‘25)
  • May Wragan (COL '22, Neuroscience)

  • Intention to earn a PhD and pursue a research career in a STEM field

  • Applying for the Goldwater is a great way to learn about the fellowships process and prepare to apply for other fellowships to support graduate school in the US or internationally such as the NSF-GRFP, the Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill, and Thouron.
