General Information

The purpose of this award is to recognize students at the undergraduate or predoctoral levels for research excellence and potential. ASM awards are granted at the discretion of award selection committees and may not be awarded every year. The award has a cash prize of $2,000.

Eligibility Guidelines

Nominees must be at the undergraduate or predoctoral level, attending an accredited institution in United States, in an academic program involving microbiology.

Application Details

Nominations will open in May. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominations must consist of a nomination form that describes the nominee's research excellence and potential, a personal statement from the student, a curriculum vitae, and two additional supporting letters. One form must be from a supervisor or mentor, while the other form may be from an academic advisor or colleague. Only one of the three individuals involved in the nomination may be employed at the nominee's institution. Forms can be viewed at this external link.
