Proud to yet again have the University of Pennsylvania appear on The Fulbright Program 's list of Top Producing Institutions! #Fulbright enables Penn's goal of engaging globally by sending our students and alumni on missions of cultural exchange through research, teaching, and study. If you are interested in learning how to apply, come to our upcoming information session on March 16!
PURM applications are due soon! Check out this student's experience with PURM last year.
Check out the cool stuff you can do as an undergraduate researcher!
The Fulbright US Student Program funds 8-12 months of international experience in 160 countries. While Fulbright Grants are offered in various forms and are country-specific, they fall into three broad categories (not all grant types are available in all countries, but most countries offer more than one option):
1) Research grants offer the opportunity to design your own project in any discipline – proposals may include independent research, field work, or a creative arts project.
2) Study grants support graduate study at a university abroad.
3) English Teaching Assistantships (ETAs) allow you to teach English and US Culture abroad, and to engage in cultural exchange with the host community.
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) is here for you, and offers a multitude of resources to support you throughout the application process. To begin exploring this opportunity, please request access to the Canvas site CURF maintains for prospective Fulbright applicants and then complete Modules 1 & 2, which include brief presentations designed to help you get started.
Note: all Fulbright application materials must be submitted by August 28 in order to meet Penn’s campus deadline and take full advantage of CURF support resources ahead of Penn’s final deadline (TBA) in early October. We hope you will consider applying!
Congratulations to Kevin Chen (Penn Arts & Sciences '18, Barry Goldwater Scholarship Foundation '16) on being named a Churchill Scholar!
